The first time I heard this song I was sitting in the car and thinking, wow yet another remix of this song which was made famous by Florence & The Machine but was actually a song by a relatively unknown disco singer from the 80's, Candi Staton.
This song has been covered over a dozen times by different singers & bands since it's first release but the XX remix of the song brings a whole new depth and a relatively new sound to any other version. It's fresh - there's a male vocal, with amazing sampling of Florence's vocals and gives it a very early 00's garage feel to it. While I'm not a massive Florence fan, i'm sure that you'll agree that this version is not only tolerable but also very addictive.
It might just be me, but this is the kind of song that you can play to someone you really care about and they will know just how you feel about them, without having to say a word...
